Introduced in 1988, the Olympus Infinity Twin Quartzdate (known as the AF-1 Twin in other markets) is a standout compact film camera from Olympus’s acclaimed AF series. What makes this model special is its twin-lens system, giving photographers the ability to instantly switch between a 35mm f/3.5 wide-angle lens and a 70mm f/6.3 telephoto lens at the touch of a button. This versatility made it a perfect everyday companion for travel, street, or family photography.
Like its predecessor, the Olympus AF-1 (nicknamed Nurepika in Japan), the Infinity Twin features a weatherproof design, ensuring reliable operation even in less-than-ideal conditions. For the first time in this series, Olympus used molded plastic lenses, a new technology at the time that balanced durability with optical performance.
The camera is fully automatic, offering autofocus, auto-exposure (1/15–1/750s), DX film decoding (ISO 50–3200), and a built-in automatic flash, making it easy to achieve well-exposed shots in varying light conditions. Other features include a motorized film advance and rewind, lens protection cover inspired by the XA series, and a tripod socket for added flexibility.
This version comes with the Quartzdate function, allowing date imprinting on film – a nostalgic detail for many film enthusiasts. Powered by two CR123A batteries, it remains practical and ready for use today.
This particular unit is in very good condition and comes with a protective case, making it both a functional film camera and a collectible piece of Olympus history.
