Agfa Optima 200 Sensor, released in 1969, was the first model in Agfa’s Sensor line – a series of compact cameras with automatic exposure, designed for everyday photography. With its iconic red shutter button and intuitive design, this camera marked a solid step toward the modern era of 35mm photography.
It features a 42mm f/2.8 Color-Apotar lens and a selenium cell light meter, meaning it doesn’t require batteries to operate. Exposure is fully automatic, adjusting both aperture and shutter speed based on the available light. Shutter speeds range from 1/30s to 1/200s, and ISO settings can be manually set between 25 and 160.
The camera uses zone focusing with a minimum focus distance of 1 meter, making it great for quick street shots or portraits. Built from a mix of metal and plastic, it feels solid in hand while remaining compact enough for travel. This particular version is the updated model with a hot shoe integrated into the top plate.
