Description
The Halina 35-600 is a classic 35mm compact camera, offering a robust and straightforward shooting experience with its 40mm f/2.8 lens. Styled with a sleek noir finish reminiscent of Japanese compacts from the 1970s, the Halina 35-600 is an updated version of its predecessor, the Halina 500, with a more refined design and added functionality.
This camera features zone focusing with four preset distances (0.8m, 1.5m, 3m, and infinity), adjusted via a ring on the lens. The aperture range of f/2.8 to f/22 and shutter speeds of 1/40 and 1/200 give photographers flexibility for various lighting conditions. Its CdS metering system handles automatic exposure, while manual override is possible by switching to the flash mode. The camera uses a now-discontinued PX625 1.35v mercury cell, but modern alternatives like zinc-air hearing aid batteries or adaptors with silver oxide cells are readily available.
A standout feature is the red flag warning system, which locks the shutter when light levels are too low, similar to the Olympus Trip 35. For low-light shots, switching to f/2.8 in flash mode allows for manual aperture control, although the metering system still influences the exposure.
Other features include:
- 46mm filter thread for compatibility with common filters.
- Top-mounted shutter release with a cable release option.
- The ability to lock exposure by half-pressing the shutter button.
This camera is lightweight and portable, making it a stylish and functional choice for film photography enthusiasts. The original case included in this offering adds further value, ensuring the camera is well-protected.
