The Olympus X-43, known as the FE-47 in other markets, is a compact point-and-shoot camera released in 2010. Finished in glossy black with silver detailing around the lens, this example is presented in good overall condition. Its pocketable proportions, gently sculpted grip and straightforward controls make it both a practical everyday camera and an appealing piece of early-2010s digital design.
The camera is built around a 14-megapixel CCD sensor and a 5x Olympus zoom lens covering a 36–180mm equivalent focal range, with an aperture of f/3.5–5.6. This versatile range works well for everyday scenes, portraits and more tightly framed details, while Super Macro mode can focus from approximately 3 cm. Photographs and menus are displayed on a 2.7-inch TFT LCD screen.
Intelligent Auto selects the appropriate settings for each scene, while Program Auto, dedicated scene modes, face-detection autofocus, subject tracking and Digital Image Stabilisation provide additional flexibility. Four Magic Filters—Pop Art, Pin Hole, Fish Eye and Drawing—offer playful in-camera effects, and the camera can also record VGA movies with sound. Powered by two widely available AA batteries, the X-43 provides a simple and accessible way to enjoy the distinctive experience of compact digital photography.
