In this third edition, we’re excited to introduce Isabela, co-founder of Fototeka and a visual poet inspired by rural life, forgotten places, and magical myths. Isabela ventures beyond the busy cities, seeking stillness and space for introspection. Her current companion? The Pentax Espio Mini, carefully selected from Fototeka’s collection.

Why is film photography your go-to medium?
Film photography holds a special meaning for me. There’s something about its grain, colors, and imperfections that feels more authentic. It takes away the pressure of over-editing, letting the moment remain as it was captured. I love the patience it requires and the surprise of rediscovering forgotten frames, sometimes years later. With film, I photograph only when I feel it, not out of compulsion.
What do you love to capture most on film?
I’m drawn to capturing moods, the feelings certain things or objects evoke, and a touch of magical realism. For me, a photo always has to mean something, to convey a feeling about what’s in front of me. It’s a very personal, subjective type of photography, often revealing more than I intend. Sometimes, I feel certain photos are too personal to share—they’re like a visual journal of my thoughts.
Why PENTAX espio mini? What do you like most about it?
The Pentax Espio Mini is perfect for me because it feels like an extension of myself—light, easy to use, and unobtrusive. Its simplicity allows me to focus entirely on the scene, not the gear. And yet, it delivers incredible clarity, making it a reliable companion in capturing what I feel.
Got a recommendation for a song or a movie that gives off those analog vibes?
Let’s say Paris, Texas for that analog movie vibe. And for a song, The Caretaker – Is Just a Burning Memory, with its grainy, analog sound, just like a photo on film.
